These are the flowers that a student brought me today! Actually, his mom brought them. She tried to give him credit but he wouldn't take it. I've been helping him through a summer life science correspondence course. We've been spending 12 hours + a week together for over a month! It's been interesting to say the least. We even had experiments to do (we failed at making bread mold...partially because his sister smashed it and his dad ate the other). He's off to Seattle for a week but I'm sure I'll see him again.

Minneapolis/ St. Paul
A weekend or two ago Charlene and I went to Minneapolis/St. Paul to see friends, Church members, and to have fun. We stopped at the sculpture garden, the one with the famous cherry on the spoon and decided to have some fun taking pictures.

Who is making fun of who?

The famous cherry sculpture! Charlene has finally seen it. There is nothing else for her to see in the Cities. It's all been done!

This is Charlene with Alicia, her freshman roomate from college. They came up with many a depressing answering machine message while studying calculus together.

Garden! And CRAFTS!!!
There's a complete view of the garden! I'll get some closeup pepper and tomato pics soon!

This is the failed Ernie sweater. It was huge.....I shrank it.....it's now the right width but 6 in too short for Luke....

On the right are the shoes I painted to match my Bridesmaid dress for Rachel's wedding! They match perfectly!

The TETRIS soda can collage! Much work to be done...

And there's the dress I sewed last Sunday...

I'll post pics of my finished crafts soon!

Garden Update - Part dos
Here's our jungle of tomato plants

and the Tomatillo plant (green tomatoes - great for salsa verde)

Corn! Apparently you want it to be "knee high by the 4th of July" according to Samantha but I don't think this phrase is well thought out. Since "high" and "July" are what rhyme....you can say "waist high by the 18th of July" and it still works!

Peas! This is round one. Round two can be seen to the left of the corn. Delicious!

I woke up this morning to find the pumpkin vines in full bloom! Now when are we going to get a gourd...

Garden Update
Pumpkin vines are crawling....

Squashes (or cucumbers?) are growing.... I think it's a cuc, Luke votes squash. What do you think? (Samantha and I don't really label things while planting our indoor seedlings...which really stresses Luke out but... we figure we'll figure it out sooner or later!)

The raspberry bush is taking over!

Squirrels are snacking on the compost pile!

And pumpkin's are blossoming! The need to start making a gourd soon!

More to come.....

4th of July + New Camera = ehhhh..

This is your classic single firework - I think this was the best one of those kind.
And this one is the finale picture that I liked the best - it looks like there's a white star firework amidst a red and blue blooming explosion. Pretty neat I'd say. Well, I need to go watch some Heroes with my babe. Ciau!
