Meet Addy!

Addy Walker’s story begins as she and her mother are escaping slavery to find Addy’s father and brother, who’ve been sold away. But their escape means leaving Addy’s baby sister behind—her cries could cost them their lives. Once Addy takes her freedom, can she re-unite her family?

Meet Kirsten!

Ever since I was a little little girl, I wanted an American Girl doll. Specifically Kirsten, since she was a Norwegian immigrant in the midwest. I'm part Norwegian....and I LOVE Little House on the Prairie and I have blonde hair and blue eyes....she's just like me! And now I finally have her! Someone I met online was moving and couldn't bring their two AG dolls with them so they offered to give them to me...and I took them!

(I sewed her apron and bonnet)
Kirsten Larson must leave all she’s ever known to come with her family to the New World. They settle on the Minnesota frontier, where people don’t speak her language or understand her traditions. Yet in time, Kirsten discovers the richness of her new land—and the true meaning of home.

Next time....you shall meet Addy Walker!

Homecoming week

So, this week at Fargo North is homecoming week. I (Charlene) hadn't been able to participate in any of the dress up days (lack of clothing) until today: super hero day! Fortunately, I bought a Batman mask a few years ago and it came in handy today! I was dressed all in black (capeless, unfortunately) and wore a Batman mask while teaching all of my classes! My 2nd period class smiled at me the entire time. Every few minutes someone would point out "we just can't take you seriously, Mrs. Sabin!". Then I would smile, and they would laugh more because an angry Batman mask + a smiling person is hilarious. It was a great day!

Student quotes:

"It's like 'symphony' but without the 'e'" - (in regards to the word puzzle "SYMPHON")

"I have two uvulas..."

"Evan got his finger stuck in a hole!"
